Dick Vermeil said he always hoped his career was good enough to be considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he didn’t know if it would happen. So when he got a call this fall telling him that he had been selected by the coaches committee, he was taken back. He believes there are several other coaches who belong in the Hall before him, but he’ll gladly accept the honor once the whole committee votes him in—a foregone conclusion.
